With God in the City
A day of renewal for anyone working for social change

Gather for coffee from 10.30am for a 11.00am start – 5pm close ~ lunch included.

“For I am about to do something new. See, I have already begun! Do you not see it?
I will make a pathway through the wilderness. I will create rivers in the dry wasteland.”
Isaiah 43:19

God invites us to collaborate as companions in responding to the needs of our world and in loving our communities. Whether  we are interceding or advocating for others, or serving them in practical ways through our parishes and professions, we know God is already present and active.

We will consider a relational approach to social change that is based in spiritual conversation and advocacy through encounter. We will rejoice in the times where our prayer meets God’s grace as well as provides a foundation for our everyday outreach. We will explore tools for reflection and celebration as people who seek to practice a “faith that does justice”.

The day will close with a special service of blessing for ourselves, the projects for social change we are involved in and the people we serve. So, come if you work for a charity, volunteer at a foodbank, visit a neighbour, mentor a teenager, open a shelter, host an intern, accompany an asylum seeker, manage a team, fundraise for projects, pray in your parish…

Kate Monkhouse has over 20 years’ experience working with faith-based and community organisations in civic engagement and social inclusion. She is currently the Executive Coordinator for Creators of Peace global women’s programme. Kate roots her training in conflict transformation within her own practice of Ignatian spirituality. She is an RSA Fellow, helps run Two23 and is a trustee at City Gateway. Kate is often to be found praying or plotting projects at St Katharine’s on Thursdays

The day will include space for individual reflections and prayer.

The cost of £20 includes coffee and pastries on arrival from 10.30am, a sandwich lunch and afternoon pot of tea and cake.
